Zeolite in swimming pool filtration

A natural alternative to sand to improve water quality and filter performance.

Why use zeolite in swimming pool filters?

Natural zeolite is the new reference material for swimming pool filter media. It is rapidly replacing sand as the product of choice for private and public swimming pools, waterparks and spas.

It is used in the same way as sand, within the same filtration system, offering superior performance and better water quality, while reducing the issues associated with conventional filtration.

Main benefits

The use of zeolite as a filtration medium in swimming pools offers clear advantages over traditional sand filters.

Filtration of very fine particles

Removal of ammonium and chloramines

Improved water quality

Reduction of odors and irritation

Natural and efficient solution

How does zeolite work in swimming pools?

Natural zeolite has a highly porous structure and high specific surface area which means it can remove fine particles down to 10µm and below. Sand filters will usually only remove particles as small as 50µm.

Zeolite also has natural cation exchange capacity which means it can remove dissolved ammonia from swimming pool water. Ammonia is formed from urine and it reacts with chlorine products in the pool to form chloramines which irritate bather’s eyes and skin.

Natural Zeolite AQUA

Our product Zeolita Natural AQUA is far superior to other zeolites currently being offered on the market for swimming pool filters and was specifically selected by ZeoCat for it’s high quality. It is a hard zeolite which has been dried at 350ºC to fully activate it’s cation exchange capacity.

Applications beyond swimming pools

Zeolita Natural AQUA can be used for all types of water treatment applications, not just swimming pool filtration. It is the best quality zeolite available for all water filtration applications.

Lower maintenance and
reduced water consumption
